Brixton Yoga: Community and Connection Through Free Virtual Yoga

A Community-Oriented Approach

Established in 2014, Brixton Yoga has been a hub for community, fostering growth through word-of-mouth referrals. This emphasis on community played a pivotal role in the business’s resilience during the pandemic.

Recognizing the need for support, Brixton Yoga founder Gurpreet Dosanjh shifted the studio’s offerings online, ensuring free virtual classes to maintain connection within the community.

Virtual Yoga Classes

  • Daily free virtual yoga classes
  • Classes tailored to various levels and abilities, including beginners’ classes and chair yoga
  • Dedicated core of yogis in Brixton
  • Students from across the UK, Europe, and Asia
  • Social media platforms, such as Instagram with over 5,500 followers, have been instrumental in connecting people with Brixton Yoga

Collaboration and Outreach

Brixton Yoga engages in community-building events, including collaborations with local organizations such as Brixton Brewery and the Village.

The studio has also welcomed collaborations with notable figures, such as Gbolahan Obisesan, director of Brixton House Theatre, who participated in a recent yoga class.

Gratitude and Support

The founder of Brixton Yoga, Gurpreet Dosanjh, expresses heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community.

Students have contributed to the studio’s continuation through donations, thoughtful gestures, and business advice.

The free yoga classes are offered in recognition of the sacrifices made by healthcare workers and frontline personnel during the pandemic.

Upcoming Summer Events

Brixton Yoga is planning summer retreats and socially distanced mini-festival weekends featuring yoga, live music, and homemade food on a farm near London.

In appreciation of healthcare workers and frontline personnel, the studio will offer free spots to these individuals for the summer events, fully funded by donations.
