Written by Mia Shaftesbury

Down Under School of Yoga is set to host its third annual Down Under Unites Yoga Festival on April 6-7. At their Cambridge studio, participants will enjoy a weekend of unlimited yoga classes and workshops for just $30.

Participants can expect various yoga classes, ranging from traditional options like Fundamentals of Vinyasa to more innovative classes such as Heart Opening Classic Rock Flow. The festival’s faculty includes respected yoga practitioners like Patricia Walden, Natasha Rizopoulos, and Justine Wiltshire-Cohen. Special guest Chris Capozzi, co-leader of Boston’s popular November Project, will provide energetic playlists for select Saturday classes.

Down Under’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity extends to the festival, with proceeds going towards their Teaching Training Scholarship for People of Color. This scholarship offers free tuition for 200 and 300-hour teacher training to individuals who identify as people of color and demonstrate a passion for yoga.

“This is what distinguishes Down Under in the American yoga scene,” said Justine Wiltshire-Cohen, director of the school. “Our instructors, representing various yoga styles, share a love of practice, mutual respect, and a belief that our teachings transcend the mat to impact the larger world.”
