Jenn Tardif: Rituals for a Meaningful Life

Jenn Tardif is a yoga instructor and founder of 3rd Ritual, where she hosts workshops blending ritual practices such as yoga, aromatherapy, and tea ceremonies. Originally from Ontario, she studied English and Film at the University of Western Ontario before moving to New York City in 2011.

Tardif began practicing yoga in high school and subsequently dedicated herself to a deep study of Chinese medicine and yogic philosophy. Despite her passion for yoga, she initially hesitated to pursue it as a profession, feeling a sense of imposter syndrome. However, inspired by the teachings of her mentors, she overcame this hesitancy and now teaches yoga once a week, viewing it as a form of self-care and a means of personal growth.

On Morning Routine

Tardif’s morning routine is centered around mindfulness and intention-setting. She begins each day with deep breathing exercises and a mantra. She then spends time with her daughter, which she describes as the highlight of her day.

On Yoga and Rituals

Tardif believes that rituals have the transformative power to enhance our lives by adding meaning and purpose to the mundane. She views yoga as a gateway to a heightened awareness of the present moment and a tool for fostering creativity and connection.

“To me, rituals are like gateways. A seemingly simple act, like applying lotion to your palms and breathing deep, is alchemical when it’s infused with intention as well as our full attention. I’ve long believed that rituals refine our ability to see greatness in small things. They add meaning to the otherwise mundane, and spark creativity and connection when we’re in need of a new perspective.”

On 3rd Ritual

3rd Ritual is Tardif’s platform for sharing her knowledge and passion for rituals. Through workshops, she guides participants in practices designed to inspire reflection and personal growth. Tardif believes that her workshops facilitate a connection to the body, mind, and spirit, fostering a sense of well-being and purpose.

On Creative Process

Tardif encourages a playful and non-judgmental approach to creativity. She advocates for celebrating mediocrity and finding joy in the process of creation, free from the constraints of expectations.

On Style and Decor

Tardif’s style and home decor reflect her values of authenticity and simplicity. She favors comfortable and feminine clothing and prioritizes the use of natural materials and understated aesthetics in her home. She believes that a harmonious living environment contributes to a positive state of mind.

On Beauty

Tardif’s beauty routine is efficient and focused on natural products. She emphasizes the importance of self-care and finding joy in the simple acts of preparation.
