Heal Your Sh! t Find Your Happy: A Guide to Understanding and Releasing Trauma

Trauma and stress are prevalent experiences that can significantly impact our well-being. Certified TRE (Tension and Trauma Release Exercise) trainer Christine Varnavas has dedicated her life to educating others on the profound effects of trauma on the body and mind. Her recently published book, “Heal Your Sh! t Find Your Happy,” aims to empower individuals who have experienced trauma with practical tools and insights to navigate their healing journey.

Dr. David Berceli, the creator of TRE, recognized the innate ability of children and animals to release stress through involuntary tremors. This practice, suppressed in adults due to societal expectations, can be reactivated to facilitate the release of stress chemicals. Varnavas emphasizes, “Understanding the mechanics of stress and trauma can be transformative. It’s not just about mental health; it’s about healing the body.” By engaging in enjoyable activities like exercise, yoga, and laughter, healing can become an empowering and even joyful process.

Varnavas’s book explores the physiological manifestations of stress, comparing the human body to a cell tower constantly emitting signals. Our autonomic nervous system, tasked with ensuring our safety, picks up on these signals, often mirroring the emotions and anxiety of others in our environment. This phenomenon, which Varnavas experienced firsthand, highlights the unconscious transmission of generational trauma.

“We are all responsible for mitigating the negative impact we have on others,” says Varnavas. “By working on ourselves, we break the cycle of trauma and foster a more harmonious environment.”

Drawing on her background as an educator and her passion for fitness and yoga, Varnavas has collaborated with Inner Peace Press, a local publishing company, to bring her book to life. Inner Peace Press’s values resonate with her mission, and its owner, Heather Felty, has been a long-time acquaintance.

For those seeking to deepen their understanding of stress and TRE, Varnavas recommends her book as an invaluable resource. She will also be launching a new program in the fall, empowering women with self-care practices that can be integrated into their daily lives as they navigate stress and strive for optimal well-being.

Copies of “Heal Your Sh! t Find Your Happy” can be purchased through Varnavas’s website, christinevarnavas. com, as well as The Local Store.
