America’s Got Talent Judges Debate the Merits of Face Yoga

On a recent episode of America’s Got Talent, judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel were skeptical of face yoga practitioner Koko Hayashi’s performance. However, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara were enthusiastic supporters of the unconventional act.

Despite Hayashi’s explanation that face yoga was a “natural alternative to plastic surgery,” Cowell found it unappealing, stating, “We’re looking stupid.”

With only two votes of support from the women, Hayashi’s journey on the competition ended. However, Vergara expressed interest in private sessions with Hayashi.

What is Face Yoga?

Face yoga is a technique that claims to improve facial appearance by strengthening and manipulating the 57 muscles of the face and neck.

While there is limited scientific evidence supporting its efficacy, proponents argue that face yoga can enhance skin elasticity, promote circulation, and result in a more sculpted countenance.

Koko Hayashi, the Face Yoga Advocate

Originally from Japan, Hayashi established her business, Koko Face Yoga, in Los Angeles. She has appeared on Shark Tank and Keeping Up With the Kardashians in addition to her YouTube and Instagram accounts, where she shares videos of her facial exercises.

The Judges’ Reactions

Cowell’s aversion to the exercises was evident as he buzzed off Hayashi’s performance early on. Mandel also voted against her, citing the comical nature of the exercises.

Klum and Vergara, however, were more receptive. Vergara revealed that she follows Hayashi on Instagram and regularly performs some of her exercises.

Despite the Judges’ mixed reactions, Hayashi remains optimistic, continuing to promote the benefits of face yoga through social media.
