Recent research suggests that facial exercises, popularly known as face yoga, can effectively rejuvenate the appearance of middle-aged individuals.

A 20-week study involving a group of participants demonstrated that a dedicated 30-minute daily facial exercise regimen resulted in a remarkable reduction in their perceived age.

Before and after the exercise program, experts were tasked with estimating the participants’ ages. The average age of the group decreased significantly, from 50.8 years to 48.1 years, a reduction of approximately three years.

According to Murad Alam, a dermatologist at Northwestern University, the facial exercises amplify and fortify the muscles of the face. Consequently, the face acquires a firmer, more sculpted, and youthful appearance.

Face yoga was developed by Annelise Hagen, a renowned yoga instructor from New York City.

The study participants consisted of:

  • Healthy individuals between the ages of 40 and 65
  • No prior experience with face yoga
  • Regularly followed the prescribed exercise regimen
