A Spacious New Haven for Yoga Practitioners

Sky Ting Yoga has established itself as a prominent destination for yoga enthusiasts in Manhattan just a year after its debut. The light-filled, giraffe-adorned Chinatown studio has gained a loyal following among yogis seeking elevated practice experiences amidst the city’s vibrant streets. Driven by the goal of fostering a strong community, owners Chloe Kernaghan and Krissy Jones have expanded their reach with the opening of a second studio in Tribeca, offering even more space for practicing and socializing.

Designed by Nick Poe and housed within an old factory building, the new 3,500-square-foot studio boasts a spacious main room with expansive windows accommodating up to 55 practitioners. An additional smaller room offers capacity for 25, a private instruction room ensures personalized guidance, and four bathrooms provide ample amenities. The ambiance is characterized by airy and light-filled spaces, reminiscent of the Chinatown location, while the building’s original features add a touch of classic New York charm.

“We deliberately preserved the natural architectural elements of the building, highlighting its arches and complementing them with windows to enhance the flow of natural light,” explains Jones.

Beyond the practice spaces, a welcoming lounge invites practitioners to linger after their sessions. Stocked with culinary offerings from Smile to Go and refreshing coconut smoothies, the lounge features a sunken couch adorned with comfortable cushions and pillows, encouraging a sense of community and connection.

“Our unwavering commitment remains to fostering a vibrant community at Sky Ting,” says Kernaghan. “We envision the studio not only as a destination for practicing yoga but also as a place where people can socialize, unwind, and find inspiration outside their mats.

Enhanced Class Offerings and Wellness Initiatives

The new Tribeca location expands the class schedule due to its two dedicated rooms. A diverse range of classes caters to both beginners and advanced practitioners.

“We are introducing monthly sound baths to our offerings,” notes Jones. “In recognition of the Tribeca neighborhood’s unique demographic, we will also incorporate prenatal, postnatal, and children’s yoga classes to cater to the needs of our expanding community.

Teacher training remains a cornerstone of Sky Ting’s mission, and the new studio provides an ideal venue for these programs. The next training session is scheduled for February, with details to be announced in the near future.

To further enhance the wellness experience, Sky Ting Tribeca will soon feature an indoor infrared sauna designed by Higher Dose, offering an opportunity for relaxation and rejuvenation after practice.

A Bold New Spirit Animal

In a departure from the iconic giraffe that graces the Chinatown studio, Kernaghan and Jones have chosen the flamingo as the spirit animal for their new Tribeca location. This graceful creature embodies femininity, balance, and the potential for flight, symbolizing the studio’s commitment to supporting practitioners in their journey toward personal growth and well-being.
