His Teachings
Despite his casual appearance, Rinpoche maintains a strict discipline and intensive training regimen. As a young boy in Nepal, he was identified as a teacher, a role he has embraced in the lineage of Tsoknyi Rinpoche. At age 12, he entered a monastery in India, where he lived and studied for over a decade. After his return to the wider world, he married and began teaching.
The Martha’s Vineyard Retreat
Hosted by Dan Goleman and his wife, Tara, the retreat on Martha’s Vineyard brought Rinpoche’s teachings to a diverse group of students. The Golemans have been Rinpoche’s students and friends since his first visit to the United States 22 years ago.
Nunneries and Education
Beyond his teaching, Rinpoche is committed to supporting nunneries in Tibet and Nepal. He oversees one nunnery in Tibet and is constructing another in Nepal, providing young women with opportunities for education and spiritual growth. His vision is for these nuns to become teachers and bring the benefits of their education to their communities.
