Decathlon Expands in Malaysia with a New Flagship Store

Introduction

Decathlon Malaysia, a leading sports retailer, has recently opened its ninth store in the country, located at The Shoppes at Four Seasons Place within the heart of Kuala Lumpur City. This expansion marks a significant milestone for the company, which has been operating in Malaysia since 2010.

Established in 1976 by Michel Leclerc and a team of six, Decathlon’s mission has been to make sports accessible to all. Today, the company operates over 2,000 stores across 56 countries, offering a wide range of products and services to cater to the needs of sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

The New Flagship Store

The new flagship store at The Shoppes at Four Seasons Place spans 4,000 square feet and features a comprehensive selection of over 12,000 exclusive products. Covering more than 60 sports, including cycling, martial arts, racket sports, and skating, the store provides an immersive shopping experience for sports enthusiasts of all levels.

Sustainability and Local Partnerships

Decathlon is committed to sustainability and has partnered with local manufacturers in Malaysia to produce a range of “Made in Malaysia” products. These products, which include inflatable armbands, swimming buoys, training bands, nose clips, and bike lights, are exported to Europe, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific region.

Innovative Features

The new flagship store incorporates innovative features to enhance the customer experience. For example, campers can utilize virtual reality technology to experience Decathlon’s best-selling camping tents before purchasing. Additionally, the store offers exclusive partnerships with fitness studios and health and wellness providers.

Fitness and Wellness Partners

To complement the sports shopping experience, Decathlon has partnered with Manic Studio by Evomania and Hot Yo Studio. Manic Studio offers a variety of high-intensity workouts, including HIIT, Metcon, Bollywood dance, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Hot Yo Studio specializes in hot yoga classes, designed to maximize daily calorie burn.

For those seeking recovery and rehabilitation, the store has partnered with Physiowerkz, which provides movement analysis and treatment services.

Healthy Dining Options

To cater to the nutritional needs of sports enthusiasts, Decathlon has welcomed Agrain to its flagship store. Agrain is a restaurant chain that emphasizes healthy and convenient meals. It sources its vegetables locally from Cameron Highlands and offers a variety of options, including build-your-own-bowl meals, pasta, and rice dishes.
